Chocolate Apple Slices

What do you do with the last of your little one’s chocolate eggs from Easter? Here’s one idea - melt them and sneak in fruit!

This recipe for Chocolate Apple Slices is an easy, fun thing to do together and (as long as they agree of course) a super way to polish off the last of the chocolate.

The amount of chocolate here will make enough for about 12 apple slices. Plenty for my three chocolate loving boys.

You will need:

  • 300g chocolate
  • 6 apples, thickly sliced
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Hundreds & Thousands

How to make them:
To start, melt the chocolate in a microwave (easier and safer than standing over a hot stove). Break into small pieces and heat on full power in a microwave proof bowl for 30 seconds. Take out and mix. The chocolate will still be solid. Put back in the microwave for 1 minute, mixing again halfway through. If there are still some small pieces of chocolate chunks in the bowl let the melted chocolate sit for a minute or two and mix again. If you need to, pop back in the microwave for a further 20 seconds.

Next chop your apples into thick slices and press a lollipop stick into the end (I peeled them here only because my one year old isn’t a big fan of the skin).

Dip the apples into the molten, melted chocolate and turn over a couple of times to get them really chocolaty.

Sprinkle over Hundreds and Thousands, and leave on parchment paper to dry.

Remember, they’re even tastier when they’re not perfect!

After about 30 minutes, as soon as they have hardened, tuck in.

Crunch through the sprinkles, get good and chocolaty and munch into the delicious juicy apple inside.

We decided that this was definitely the best way to polish off those eggs!
